Alumni Relations Volunteer Opportunities

Chicago-Based Opportunities
· Guest Speaker:
Participate in our Take a Break speaker series or a program through Career Services to inform students about the possibilities that a career in law can offer.
· Reunion:
Serve as a Class representative, participate in planning and assist in encouraging alumni attendance at Reunion.
· Class Correspondent:
Stay in touch with your former classmates by tracking what they are up to for the class notes section of the Alumni Magazine.
· Coach:
Serve as a coach for the Moot Court or Trial Advocacy Teams.
· Alumni Board of Directors:
Oversee and support various alumni programs and events and serve as a voice for the Chicago-Kent Alumni Community. The Board does not currently have any openings; however, we are accepting resumes to keep on file.
· Student Group Advisor:
Support and advise various student groups.
Regional Opportunities (for alumni both in and outside of Chicago)
· New! Alumni Ambassador Program:
Help us recruit the best and brightest law students to Chicago-Kent by serving as an Alumni Ambassador. You will work with the Office of Admissions to call admitted students that have not yet decided on attending law school at Chicago-Kent. The purpose of the phone call is to introduce the school through an alumnus’ eyes and answer any questions the student might have, and the goal is to match alumni with students that have similar backgrounds or interests. All calls to admitted students will take place in February and March 2010. The deadline to sign up to be an Ambassador is Jan 31, 2010. Click here for more information and to enroll!
· Social Events:
Host alumni at your home or organize an alumni social event (e.g. Happy Hour, Sporting event, Theater visit, Musical performance).
· Career and Life Networking:
Host networking events or participate in speaker series.
· Community Service:
Organize a community service day for alumni in your area.

Career Services Volunteer Opportunities
· Career Advisor:
One of the Chicago-Kent’s most valuable and utilized career resources is the Career Advisor Network. As a Career Advisor you will make your business contact information available to advise students and recent graduates on issues such as practice trends, legal markets in specific geographic areas, and other career related topics. To be a career advisor, go to “My Account,” click on the “Career Advising” tab, and check the indicated box.
· Resume Review:
Look at students’ resumes and provide advice on how to improve it for their job search. Contact please contact kentcso@kentlaw.edu.
· Speaking:
Provide information as a part of panel presentation about practice areas, practice settings, job search, interviewing, etc. Contact kentcso@kentlaw.edu.
· Mock Interviews:
Conduct practice interviews with students to prepare them for a real interview. Contact kentcso@kentlaw.edu.
